What is your specialty?
Obstetrics and gynecology or OB/GYN. OB/GYN is a specialty that focuses on a woman’s health care needs. This specialty is more than helping women during pregnancy and delivering a baby. OB/GYN help address any concerns a woman has in her life. For example, a period, bleeding, or any abnormal feeling women may go through during different stages in their life. They should seek a gynecologist for preventative care, pap smear, mammogram, or osteoporosis checkup.

What made you want to become a Physician?
Becoming a doctor was my dream since I was young. I always loved helping people. My father really encouraged me to make my dream a reality. In medical school, I majored in two other specialties; orthopedic surgery and emergency medicine. I then made the switch to obstetrics. I chose to change my specialty to obstetrics because it’s the only specialty in which the patient goes to the hospital for a good reason. Patients come in happy and excited and they leave happy with their new born baby, which is the part I enjoy the most.
What are important services you provide that most patients don’t know about?
Understanding OB/GYN services at Golden Valley Health Centers (GVHC). For obstetrics (OB), GVHC takes care of pregnant patients and provides all kinds of services they need from the normal delivery to C-section. For gynecology (GYN), our providers are specialized in providing up-to-date surgeries, whether it’s open, laparoscopic, hysterectomy, or other major and minor surgeries.
What do you like most about working at GVHC?
Providing healthcare to the underserved in our communities. Without GVHC, many underserved communities would not have access to health care. I also enjoy working together with the staff to provide our patients the best care that they deserve.
What are your thoughts on GVHC’s 50th anniversary?
I have been with GVHC for 14 years and now more than ever I feel like we are heading in the right direction. We have great leadership in place that has brought forward fresh ideas, especially Mr. Tony Weber. With our Northview Health Center, our leadership team has given GVHC close access to a hospital. I see GVHC continue growing in the care that is provided. I am so excited to be part of this team and this community.
