GVHC Helps Turlock Fire Department With Unique Training

Recently, GVHC purchased some land with three abandoned homes across the street from our Turlock clinic on Delbon Avenue in order to expand the existing clinic. The houses needed to be completely demolished before new construction could start. Before demolishing the homes, we were able to provide a unique offsite training opportunity to local firefighters. Turlock Fire Department has recently hired seven new firefighters and they were able to train in these structures.  This allowed them more training opportunities than they would have been able to perform at their fixed training grounds facility.

All three shifts of firefighters completed the various interior and exterior training evolutions at the structures. The trainings consisted of: size up, arrival reports, 360′ recon, forcible entry, search and rescue, ventilation, Paratech strut structure stabilizing, oversized patient removal training, various hose evolutions and simulated structure fire drills.

We are grateful to have had the opportunity to assist these brave men and women who provide safety to others during times of distress and tragedy.
